Dr. Karen AuYeung (she/her)

I am a Registered Psychologist (#2412) of Chinese descent. I live, work, and recreate in and around Vancouver,  British Columbia - the traditional, unceded, ancestral lands of the xwmÉ™θkwÉ™y̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and SÉ™lÌ“ílwÉ™taÊ”/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.

My approach to therapy is active, collaborative, and compassionate.  In sessions, we will work together to understand the barriers, stuck points, and challenges that may be getting in the way of your goals.  I believe therapy needs to be integrative and unique to each person. So while I bring evidence-based techniques and expertise, I try to provide strategies and recommendations that are responsive to your specific interests, strengths, and values. I strive to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship so you can feel best supported through this process. I work with teens and adolescents, adults, and parents across a range of mental health disorders, stressors, and areas of exploration. Click here for more information on the services and treatment approaches I provide.

Currently, I practice in person and virtually at the North Shore Stress and Anxiety Clinic in North Vancouver and the West Coast Centre for Sex Therapy in Vancouver. I also work as the Youth Clinical Consultant for the BounceBack: Reclaim your Health program

Therapy is hard work. I am constantly inspired by the hard work and resilience I see in my clients. I deeply value the trust that is developed in the therapeutic relationship and the role that I can play in helping clients to learn and grow. Working in this field serves as an important reminder for me to also take care of myself and try to live in line with my own values. I have a passion for the outdoors and spend as much time as possible with my partner and dog in nature. I can usually be found in the forest and mountains - rock climbing, mountain and gravel biking, hiking, running, and camping. I love photography, playing piano, cooking, and eating good food.
